Carl still remembers fondly his first ever sticklebacks caught in the local canal as a boy growing up back in Liverpool. It sparked a lifelong interest in fish which has developed strongly over the years alongside his love of drawing. He will also admit that the real catalyst for his present work came about when he finally combined the two during his Masters degree. Since graduating he has travelled extensively to draw his subjects in their natural environments and remains as keen as ever to display all of our freshwater species. A member of the Society of Wildlife Artists since 2001 Carl has long been regarded as one of Britain’s leading fish artists and has won several awards over the years. His paintings now hang on walls all over the world with some collectors owning dozens of his original works. |
